The round probe shape provides a self-aligning interface that readily matches the circular rim of the iButton’s MicroCan™ package. The solid metal contacts resist wear and are easy to keep clean.
The key itself works when added to a reader, then the chip in the key transmits data via the 1-Wire protocol and is thus recognized, and since only 1 path is used for the signal, this method is particularly reliable.
The round center contact of the iButton Probe houses the LED that is rated for maximum 20mA DC at 2.7V typical.
Each iButton key has a unique 64-bit factory-entered code.
The Probe has no moving parts, making it a rugged interface for harsh environments.
Technical specs. and features:
- Reads any iButton key via 1-Wire interface
- All metal parts are chrome-plated, making the module particularly resistant to environmental influences
- blue LED (needs external resistor 4.7K-10K)
- The probe comes with a brass M18 x 1 nut for panel mounting. Since the body of the probe also forms the ground contact, the panel should be of non-conducting material to avoid ground loops.
- The 20cm wires is provided for easy connection to the system microcontroller.
Applications:
- Security systems
- Electronic door locks
- Identification of items
